Hardwood Boards Rough Cut
The rustic appeal of rough hardwood boards is a great choice for your next home improvement or woodworking project. In addition, boards are “rough sawn,” meaning the surface and edges are rugged from being cut by a large saw. Therefore, prior to project use, plane the lumber for a smooth and flat finish.
Shop our stores in Warwick and West Warwick to purchase rough cut hardwood boards. Boards are limited quantity and available only while inventory lasts. As a result, stop by our stores to view our selection of rough sawn boards and other lumber.

Calculating Board Foot
Boards are available by the piece and the retail is calculated by the board foot. A board foot is 144 cubic inches of wood. To calculate board foot: width (inches) x length (inches) x thickness (inches) / 144 = board feet. Rough hardwood boards come in random widths and lengths.
- For example, a board that is 6.5″ wide x 120″ long x 5/4 thick will equal 6.77 board feet
- 6.5″ x 120″ x 1.25″ = 975 / 144 = 6.77
Rough boards are cut into different sizes based on the quality of the tree. For example:
- 4/4 board = approximately 1″ thick
- 5/4 board = approximately 1.25″ thick
- 6/4 board = approximately 1.5″ thick
- 8/4 board = approximately 2″ thick
