Window Design Styles

Description

There can be many layers to a remodeling or building project. Consider the great variety of window design styles which could be perfect for your home. Max T. Value wants you to know window sizes and shapes vary. In addition, many are available by special order with or without grids.

Basic Window Design Styles

Single hung and double hung windows are most commonly used in home building. Both windows have two panels (sashes), but the single hung window’s top panel is stationary. Only the bottom sash moves or tilts in with a single hung window. With a double hung window, both sashes are movable. This allows for easier window cleaning and a good amount of ventilation.

Casement windows are generally tall and open outward from one side. Awning windows are wide, hinged at the top and open outward. The awning style allows air flow, but the design prevents rain from entering when open. Slider windows do as their name suggests: the sash slides open to the right or left.

A bay window typically contains three windows angled to project outward. A bow window is similar to a bay window, except it’s usually made up of four or more windows. Many other window design styles exist, including geometric, transom and mixed styles.

Energy efficient, low maintenance, and durable new construction windows are available in-stock or special order from Builders Surplus. In addition, our West Warwick (RI) and Jewett City (CT) locations also offer a big variety of surplus windows.
